What We Use
Photography, Safety, Fishing, Diving, Lifestyle, Yoga and more!
Hello friends! We’ve done it! We’ve put a list together of products and brands we love and use so that you have all of the information in one place. If there’s anything else you’re curious about, let us know, but we’ll keep trying to update this list as we go.
Just to let you know, this article contains a few affiliate links from some very kind companies who want to support us. If you choose to purchase any of the products from those select few companies, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Although we may earn a commission, all opinions expressed here are strictly our own, and we absolutely only recommend products that we personally use and LOVE (unless otherwise specified).

GoPro
Ok honestly, we don’t LOVE GoPros. They seem to dislike the saltwater quite a lot and never seem to last long, but we’re yet to find a better alternative.
2 x GoPro Hero 8 Black
Bulk spare batteries
Insta360
Insta360 ONE X2 - a small 360 steady cam. Meaning it's filming 360 degrees the whole time it's recording, so you'll never miss a shot. Once you've filmed, you can select your frames from any direction within the app. Oh, it's also waterproof to 10 metres!
Accessories - such as invisible selfie sticks, screen protectors, etc.
Drone
DJI Mavic Pro 2 - which has since been outdated. A new DJI Mavic Pro 3 is out.
ND Filters = DJI Mavic 2 Part 17 Pro ND Filters Set (ND4/8/16/32)
CPL Filters = PolarPro DJI Mavic 2 Pro Filters Cinema Series Vivid Collection

Editing
We mostly edit on our MacBook using:
Adobe Suite - mainly Lightroom Classic*, but occasionally also Photoshop for photographs. Mainly Premier Pro for videos/vlogs.
We’ll make some presets and link them here soon! x
*PRO TIP: Use Lightroom CLASSIC, not CC.
Satellite Internet
Starlink - we absolutely LOVE our Starlink. Sure, it comes with a bit of a price tag. However, when you're running a business from your sailing boat (or while road tripping), it's an absolute game-changer.
Diving
Mask with GoPro Mount (Salvimar) - although we must say it's honestly not our favourite mask, and it seems to leak a fair bit of water, but the GoPro mount is handy.
Sunbutter Reef Safe Sunscreen - we particularly love their tinted SPF50 water resistance sunscreen and vegan surf zinc SPF50.
Note: We’re still on the hunt for a wetsuit, mask and fin brand which we fully recommend!
Lifestyle
Sunbutter Reef Safe Sunscreen - we particularly love their tinted SPF50 water resistance sunscreen and vegan surf zinc SPF50.
Sunday Coast Adventure/Picnic Rugs - these are a tightly woven cotton and polyester blend.
DoTerra Essential Oils - we particularly love the Lavender, Melaleuca (Tea Tree), Lemon, Blue Tansy or Ice Blue, Peppermint, Clove, Cedarwood.
Who Gives A Crap toilet paper - (use the link to get $10 off your first purchase)
Yoga
Yoga mats and blocks from Yogi Peace Club.
Yoga wheel and bolsters from Divine Goddess.
Teacher Training Course with Yoga Renew - this is honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s SUCH a well presented and informative course.
In Our Galley
Magma nesting set (stackable pots and pans!)
Bellman Espresso & Steamer - the best stovetop coffee machine you can get! Perfect for van and yacht life.
Quality seeds for sprouting + any equipment you may need to do from Australian Wheatgrass.
Ulu Hye Mylk Bases - For Fresh Nut Mylk!
Love Tea - Organic, hand crafted and fair trade tea!
Chamellia Chai - worlds tastiest chai! We LOVE the 9 spice honey fresh chai.
We go to Biome for most of our eco-friendly, organic, and zero waste products.
Tropeaka Natural Nutrition - We use the coconut water powder and açai powder.
ConcenTrace® Trace Mineral Drops from iHerb- We use this to add more minerals into our water and keep hydrated. This product has been a total game changer, especially when we are drinking desal water!
Happy Herb Spagyrics - we particularly enjoy using Rhodiola, Anti-Inflammatory, Kidney and Liver & Gall Tonic, depending on what our body needs.
Fishing Lures
We’ve trialed a fair few lures, but these have been our stand outs:
Halco Laser Pro
Fashion
Sustainable Fashion
Boody - underwear, activewear & everyday essentials made from organically-grown Bamboo.
Oakie the label - sustainable, natural and ethically crafted clothing. Mostly neutrals.
Wolven Threads - beautiful activewear and swimmers. Also some great stuff to wear to doofs! (Use the code TGT20 when you check out for 20% off!)
Depop - an app to buy and sell second-hand clothing (yep - basically an online op shop!)
Water Sports
Rip Curl - surfing sportswear and accompanying products.
JR Surfboards - we love riding the Sloth. It’s the ultimate Summer groveller!
Fliteboard - an electric powered hydrofoil that gives the sensation of flying over water.
Other Boat-Specific Things
Safety
Garmin Sat Phone - this is our satellite phone and tracker. It also performs very basic weather checks. The weather checks are a real let down. We will be upgrading to an Iridium Go with Predict Wind.
Life jackets. We mainly use crewsavers and spinlocks. We LOVE our Spinlock VITO with HRS.
Wet Weather Gear
We use The North Face 3 in 1 jackets. They usually have a gore-tex shell and puffer jacket, which you can wear together or separate.
We got our sailing trousers from Lisa at Marina Outlet - she helped us find the perfect trousers for us, and for a really good price! We ended up with Musto and Henri Lloyd.
Marine Trimming
Our portable industrial sewing machine is a Sail rite Ultrafeed LSZ-1. We actually chose to do the Premium Package, although the Basic Package would be more than enough for most needs. It’s fantastic! (note: we once tried a knock-off version called "Sailmate" which was atrocious!)
We purchase our materials primarily from The Nolan Group and Bainbridge International.
Sails
Rolly Tasker sails - Our experience with Rolly Tasker sails was really disappointing. Our brand-new sails arrived late and were made incorrectly, not matching the measurements and info we sent in via both email and text message (we did both to make sure there wouldn’t be room for error, lol). Fixing these errors cost us a lot and took a long time. Despite providing clear evidence of the measurements and information we sent through emails and texts, Rolly Tasker didn't assist at all. We've talked to other sailors who faced similar issues, so just a heads up!
Ian Short sails - A much smaller business compared to Rolly Tasker, but their sails are fantastic!
We've heard excellent reviews about Doyle Sails, although we haven't used them ourselves.
Other
Rocna anchor paired with an ultra anchor swivel.
Love and fair winds,
Lil & Haydo
