Cyclone Jasper Flood Relief: How You Can Help

In the aftermath of Cyclone Jasper's devastation and flooding, multiple communities are in urgent need of support. Here's how you can make a difference:

Donations:

  • GIVIT's Online Portal: Contribute money or essential items directly to flood-affected individuals via GIVIT's portal. Your donations will buy crucial items and services for the victims. https://www.givit.org.au/queensland-flooding.

  • Wujal Wujal Relief Fund: Support the Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council through this fundraising initiative. This community, heavily impacted by the cyclone and floods, requires immediate assistance. Any surplus funds will aid neighboring areas like Ayton and Rossville, managed by the Cook Shire Council. https://gofund.me/bc5ec75a

Volunteer Opportunities:

The Cairns Regional Council has organized a plan called the "Mud Army" to coordinate volunteers for cleaning up private properties of residents affected by the floods. This effort will be overseen by the council, ensuring safety by collaborating with the SES to confirm areas safe for work. Those who signed up with the Emergency Volunteering Crew (EV Crew) will be contacted by the council to work in groups until December 24th, with a pause for Christmas and resumption on December 28th. Volunteers joining this initiative will receive insurance coverage, necessary protective gear, equipment, and thorough safety training.

Your support and contributions can make a significant difference in helping these communities recover from the devastating effects of Cyclone Jasper. Every bit of assistance counts in rebuilding lives and restoring hope for those affected.
